Your Pet’s Safety is Our First Concern
Faulkville Animal Hospital enjoys a fully equipped surgery suite designed for the safety and comfort of your pet. Our patients’ safety is our first concern. A dedicated nurse anesthetist monitors your pet throughout their procedure. We constantly track vital signs such as heart rate, breathing, blood pressure, and oxygenation. Routine surgeries, such as spays and neuters, are performed every weekday. Specialized soft tissue and orthopedic surgeries are available as well and scheduled as needed.
What to Expect When Your Pet Has Surgery
We ask that patients come to our hospital with an empty stomach the day of the procedure. Do not give your pet any food after midnight the night before. Water and daily medications are allowed up until 2 hours prior to surgery.
Surgery check-in time is between 7:00–7:30 am. At check-in, our nurses will take a full history of how your pet is feeling, discuss cost estimates, and have you sign the appropriate authorization forms. Your pet will then be brought to the treatment area where they will receive a pre-operative exam by the veterinarian, any necessary pre-operative lab tests, IV catheter, and pain medications.
After the surgical procedure is finished, your pet will be monitored in recovery by our veterinary nurses. As soon as your pet is fully recovered, we will contact you to let you know they are doing well and to schedule a discharge appointment. In most cases, our surgical patients go home the same day, after 4:30 pm, when they are fully up and around for travel.
At discharge, we will go over all of the home care instructions and medications your pet will need to be comfortable and heal quickly at home. Contact us today at (912) 748-7800 for additional information and to schedule your pet’s surgery.
